Dean Slocum to Speak on Human Rights Expert Panel

Acorn International founder and President Dean Slocum will panel of experts on #humanrights at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Virtual HSE and Sustainability Conference, July 27-31 (register here).  Dean will be the first speaker on panel, where he has been asked to challenge the industry on whether it is getting better at respecting human rights.  He and other panelists will also address questions about emerging national human rights legislation, human rights “grey areas” (e.g. #forcedlabor deep in #supplychains) and what are industry’s responsibilities for assessing and managing those risks, and the impact of the pandemic on increasing strain and diverting attention from human rights.

Dean is a sociologist by training, has been actively involved in SPE for 25 years, and in 2010 was appointed a SPE “Distinguished Lecturer” on #stakeholderengagement.
