Biography

Ms. Galvao has a degree in both Communication and Management for Sustainability. In her 15-year career, she has worked on sensitive projects including the expansion of the Rio Tinto iron mine in the Brazilian wetlands region (Pantanal), construction of Alcoa’s Juruti bauxite mining project in the Amazon, and implementation and logistical operations for the Nacala coal mining project in Africa. She worked as a manager in many different facets, such as Community Relations, Sustainability, Government Relations, Public Relations, and more.

At Acorn International, Juana has been developing the gap assessment for the Global Industry Standard Tailing Management (GISTM), which is a set of global good practices that seek to establish auditable principles for the best management of tailings dams for Mineração Rio do Norte, a mining project in the Amazon.
