Acorn International helped a large food and agricultural producer tackle sociocultural workforce and community challenges by applying international standards for sociocultural risk assessment and management. This Fortune 500 corporation is a major employer of immigrant workers from around the globe and engaged us to work with its numerous U.S. plants to improve workforce recruiting, retention, community and government relations, and facility uptime. In collaboration with the company, we developed novel approaches to address these workforce issues. Starting with short profiles of five key workforce and community risks—and how these have been exacerbated by the COVID crisis—we designed a workforce and community health assessment tool for its food and agricultural production operations.
